Static Guided Surgery is done primarily to place dental implants. Static Image Guided Implant Surgery involves a number of steps.

  1. A CBCT is taken of your jaw to evaluate proposed implant site.
  2. An intraoral laser scan (iTero) is taken of your jaws. This new technology allows a virtual
    model of your jaw to be superimposed on your 3-D CBCT for planning purposes.
  3. Your dentist and our doctors will work together to plan your implant restoration during a virtual surgery
    over the internet.
  4. The plan is sent to a guide manufacturer so that a static surgical guide can be made.
  5. This guide is used during surgery by our doctors to place your implants with
    minimal or no incisions in a highly accurate fashion.
  6. This guide can also be used by your dentist to make a provisional restoration, temporary
    teeth, that can often be placed on the same day as surgery.

Presently there are only a few implant static guide manufacturers in the United States. Most of these systems are specific to single implant manufacturers; these include guides systems for Nobel, Straumann, Zimmer, Biomet 3i and Biohorizons to name a few. As of 2016, Dr. Emery has completed implant reconstruction on over 600 patients, placing over 2000 implants using static guides. Our doctors place our patients’ implants using “open” guide systems, allowing them to place implants using a number of different implant manufacturers. The two largest guide manufacturers are Anatomage and Simplant. Both are available at our image guided implant center.
