A sterile silicone implant is placed in front of the bone to increase projection of the chin. The implant is then secured and the incision of closed in layers. Some swelling and bruising is expected and usually subsides after 10-14 days. Once the swelling goes down, the skin drapes smoothly over the implant. The implant themselves conform to the bone and are usually undetectable.
