ccomfs-facial-small.jpgFacelift surgery is a procedure designed to restore a more youthful look by tightening the skin in the lower face and neck and removing major wrinkles.  The procedure is performed with very discrete incisions around the ear.  It involves tightening of facial and neck muscles and removal of any excess skin.

Facial wrinkles and skin sagging are a result of age, gravity, sun exposure and genetics.  With time, fat distribution and collagen elasticity changes which results in deepened wrinkles and folds around the chin, jawline and neck.

A facelift can improve facial appearance and also has a dramatic effect on the neck, improving its countour and profile.  A facelift can set back the clock 10-15 years.  It is not a simple procedure and its recovery time is about 10-14 days.

If a patient is old enough to get a facelift, a patient might be old enough to need upper and lower eye surgery.  Other common combination procedures on patients that get a facelift include a forehead and eyebrow lift and chin augmentation surgery.  Facial fat grafting and full face laser resurfacing may enhance the results of a facelift dramatically.

Neck Lift

One of the earliest signs of aging is saggy skin in the neck area and neckbands, which usually makes patients consider a lower face and neck lift.  If sagging skin is present in the neck, liposuction alone will not be beneficial. Patients with sagging tissues may benefit from a lift procedure.  Sometimes a neck lift alone can be performed in certain patients.  Other patients may qualify for a lower face and neck lift in order to give them a more natural appearance.

The procedure is a combination of liposuction of the neck and tightening of the neck muscles to rejuvenate the neck contour and improve the profile.

Neck Liposuction

If you are tired of your double-chin or if your double chin runs in the family. You might be a candidate for neck liposuction. This quick procedures makes a huge difference in your neck appearance and profile.  A good candidate for neck liposuction has to have good skin tone in order to avoid skin sagging after the fat is removed.  This is a great procedure for young adults who want to get rid of their double chin.

An ideal nose should be natural looking, proportioned, and balanced with the rest of your face.  Often, small changes to the nose can return harmony and balance to the face, which can help bust up your confidence and overall appearance.

The procedure is done through a very small incision that heals very well and may be imperceptible after all tissues heal.  The procedure will be tailored to your individual facial features and desires to achieve a better version of your nose. The procedure takes 2-3 hours. After surgery, you will have a splint on the bridge of your nose that will remain in place for one week.  The internal stitches are self-dissolving and the small external stitches are removed at one week.

Most patients will experience swelling and bruising underneath the eyes which will fade away significantly in 1-2 weeks, but can persist for several weeks.

Chin Augmentation

Most people are aware of the role that the nose plays in the enhancement of facial profile and facial harmony. However, the importance of chin is often overlooked. The chin plays an equally important role in facial harmony and balance of the face.

Having a small chin can disrupt the overall facial balance.  A chin augmentation is a procedure that can make a dramatic difference in facial appearance.  Men will gain a more masculine appearance.  When a person lacks chin projection, the face is weakened. It can also make the nose look longer than it really is.  For this reason, many patients seek chin augmentation surgery.

Chin augmentation is commonly combined with neck liposuction to remove the fat that makes up the dreaded “double chin.”   A small incision is made either under the chin or inside the mouth.  A sterile silicone implant is placed in front of the bone to increase projection of the chin. The implant is then secured and the incision of closed in layers.  Some swelling and bruising is expected and usually subsides after 10-14 days.  Once the swelling goes down, the skin drapes smoothly over the implant.  The implant themselves conform to the bone and are usually undetectable.

Botox® treatment is a revolutionary product that is injected into the muscles of facial expression to prevent and reverse facial wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles such as those around the eyes, forehead and around the mouth could be a thing of the past.  Botox® targets the junction between the motor nerves and facial muscles to weaken the muscles for a period of time of approximately 4 months. The injection of this product eliminates winkles without disturbing normal function.

The injections are performed with ultra-small needles and it is relatively painless. The effects are not permanent and the injections may be repeated two to three times a year to retain the effect.

It is important to remember that Botox is useful to treat expression lines from forming or getting any deeper.  Once a wrinkle has formed and is getting deeper, that area may be treated with a facial filler such as Juvederm® or Voluma®.

Facial Fillers

Facial injectable fillers such as Juvederm® and Voluma® are injectable gels that have become very popular worldwide.  They are used for contouring and restoring volume to skin depressions and wrinkles as well as adding volume to the lips. They are both composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural component of your connective tissue.

Commonly treated areas with Juvederm® and Voluma® include:
-Thin upper and lower lips
-Nasolabial folds
-Marionette lines
-Forehead wrinkles
-Sunken cheeks and cheek bones
-Nasal furrows

Juvederm® may last up to 12 months in the area where it was injected.  This does not necessarily mean that the results last an entire year. It means that there is still product in that area at one year after injection but the volume of that material is not the same as when it was injected. You will typically need a touch up treatment with Juvederm® after 6-9 months of initial injection. Voluma® may last up to 2 years.

Eyelid Surgery

Do you feel like you look tired 24/7?  Do you have difficulty applying eye make up?  There is a solution for you.  Blepharopasty, also known as eyelid surgery, is one of the most common facial aesthetic procedures with immediate and long lasting results.

Eyelid surgery can improve the bags under your eyes, loose skin that contribute to wrinkles and folds under the eyes, and excess skin in upper and lower eyelids.

Forehead and Eyebrow Lift

Fallen eyebrows are one of the most common signs of aging.  Many patients come in thinking that they need upper eyelid surgery because most people tend to overlook the position of the eyebrows. Lifting the fallen eyebrows will help to correct loose upper eyelid skin and restore a youthful appearance to the forehead and brow area. The goal of the surgery is to elevate the eyebrows to give the patient a natural appearance without leaving any noticeable scars. All the scars are hidden within the hair.

Facial Treatments

Facial wrinkles, acne scars, brown spots, and many other skin conditions are treated routinely with chemical peels, lasers and/or microneedling.  For more information please make a complementary consultation.

Ear Surgery (Otoplasty and earlobe repair)

Prominent ears could be a distressing factor for young children as well as adults. The procedure known as otoplasty is performed to correct prominent ears by reshaping and repositioning the cartilage of the ears.  The goal is to reposition the ear closer to the head and to recreate a natural appearance.

All of the incisions are hidden behind the ear, the ear is reshaped by either removing cartilage or reshaping it.  Stitches are placed in precise locations to maintain the new form of the ear and the incision in the back of the ear is closed.

The procedure could be performed as early as 5 years of age.  Performing the procedure earlier in life can reduce teasing and the negative self-image that children can develop as a result of prominent ears.
