The treatment of spider veins and varicose veins has shown to improve a woman’s self-confidence. In our practice, we use the foam sclerotherapy technique. We first meet you for a consultation to determine if you are a good candidate for the treatment. The procedure typically performed in the office and takes 30-45 minutes. The spider veins are injected with a clear solution using a very fine needle. Most patients feel that the procedure is not overly painful. A small number of patients choose do the procedure under oral sedation.
After the procedure, your legs will be wrapped with a flexible dressing. We will advise you to go for a walk for an hour in the mall or outside. Later that evening you can remove the elastic dressings and place on compression stockings. We advise you to purchase the thigh high 30-40 mmHg compression stockings before your procedure. You can find them online or at any local medical supply store.
It is recommended to wear the compression stockings 24 hours a day for 2 weeks to minimize the likelihood of vein recurrence. Most patients do however require a series of 2 to 3 treatment sessions spaced approximately 6 weeks apart.
